This set of hob nobz was made from a tiny section of a burl, totalling about 3 cubic inches, that had a blood-red colour running through it. Some of the remaining burl had pinkish tones, but the deep red only occurred in this very small section, just enouh to make two knobs.
Reds and pinkish tones do show up in Box Elder, but such a deep red is a rare occurrence.
