Instructions

All hob nobz are provided with a hex key for tightening the setscrew that holds the knob in place, as well as a brass sleeve for use with splined shaft controls, and those with 6 millimetre  shafts.

A splined shaft looks like this :

In all cases where the shaft is splined, you need to put the brass sleeve on the shaft before installing the hob nobz.   In the case of non-splined shafts, try to slip the brass sleeve onto the shaft.  If it will slide on, it is needed.  If it simply won’t fit on the shaft, it is not needed.

Once the knob is in place, gently tighten the set screw in the side of the knob with the hex key supplied.  DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.  You only need to tighten the setscrew enough to keep the knob from rotating beyond the stop position of the control under the normal force you use to turn the control.  Because of the way hob nobz are made, the setscrew will not work loose on its own, so added force when tightening the setscrew is not necessary and will only jeopardize the integrity of the knob.
